Colliding crises are affecting billions around the world. Climate disasters are clashing with spiralling national debt and rising political extremism. These are made worse by broken economic and social systems, and women are paying the highest price. They experience more poverty. More violence. And are shut out of decisions that could change that. The history of colonialism and reality of today’s economies keep this oppression alive.
Everything we do is about providing practical and urgently needed support and demanding change in the systems that create and maintain this injustice. That’s a very complicated thing to aim for. It’s what drives us. And this is where you come in. Why? Because your support has the power to change lives, every single day. And we think that’s something to be hopeful about. Led by the women and girls we work with, we set out to make sure women’s rights everywhere are respected so they can lead safe and fulfilling lives. Women and girls. Unstoppable leaders for a fairer world.
What you can do
Everything we do is defined by action for women and girls. They do not want to live with poverty, exclusion or discrimination. They want things to be better for themselves, their children and their communities right now. And they want lasting change.
That means going beyond being a charity empowering women. Because women and girls do not lack power. However, challenging the systems that shut them out? That takes collective action. It requires resources and support from all of us.

- Demand change from leaders and rally public support for a fairer world
- Celebrate the power of women to lead change in their own lives, communities and countries
- End all forms of gender-based inequality and violence

A word on Feminism
A fairer world for women is a better world for everyone. It’s that simple.
Our approach isn’t about excluding anyone — quite the opposite. It’s about including everyone in the conversations that affect their lives. For women across the world, that has for too long been something that hasn’t happened.
So we work alongside communities to challenge the systems that hold women back. With your help, we’re here to change that — so women are free to own their power, and live safe and happy lives.

We are ActionAid Ireland. We deliver impact multiplied by 71. What does that mean?
It means that we are an independent organisation, a registered charity in Ireland. We continue Ireland’s long-held tradition of solidarity with those facing poverty and injustice. Our unique strength is that we are one of a globally-powerful federation, present in 71 member countries. Whilst we raise money and campaign for justice here in Ireland, we work together with our partners in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. We share our resources and knowledge to take action together to deliver the best support when and where it’s needed most. Our aim is to return power and decision-making to the communities, and particularly women, affected by crises. This is about a return of agency to the Global South. That’s why we have our global headquarters in South Africa and all ActionAid offices in the Global South have local leadership and are deeply rooted in those countries.
